Awesome Trip 1

Well,I've been going for a few trips out of school during the last few weeks. The first one was a trip to one of my most-wanted-to-see places,Petroscience.I've been longing to visit that place ever since I knew that such a place existed(I was interested in science since a very young age).

I was always confused with the National Science Center and Petroscience.I remember going for a trip to some science place when I was 11 but I still wasn't sure what the name of the place was as both those places were strongly associated with science.

When I reached Petroscience,I immediately knew that that wasn't the place that I visited with my primary school friends.Petroscience was located inside the Petronas Twin Towers.I was very excited to explore the place as soon as I arrived there with my fellow friends but I was forced to wait as we reached half an hour earlier than the operating hour. So,my friends and I just walked around looking at all those closed shops-it was too early for the shops to be opened.

We started off with a short briefing from the people who were working there. They gave us a wrist band and gave some advice which I can't really remember. We started off with taking a look at the process of drilling oil rigs and producing oil for commercial use. This first section was the most uninteresting section of the whole trip for me.I tried to take a glimpse at most of the basic processes and moved on to the next section.

Next up,we were given an insight to how a few physics formulae were applied to man's creations. There were simple experiments for calculating and proving acceleration based on the gradient of the curve. As we slowly moved on,there were more and more info on cars and how they function.

However, under this acceleration section, the most interesting part was a game to show the how powerful are our brain waves were.We have place a device on our heads and try to move a ball to the opposite side of the track. The trick is to relax the most so that our brains could produce strong theta waves to push the ball the opposite direction.I tried playing and discovered that I couldn't really produce strong theta waves. What an interesting discovery!I'm still wondering how those scientists or engineers actually invented that machine.

The chemistry section which followed up after this wasn't that interesting at all.The facts were great-I learned a lot about hydrocarbon compounds and a few specific properties of plastics. But,the facts were displayed in boxes up a spiral staircase with not much of physical evidence which are usually present during chemistry exhibitions.I pity the chemistry enthusiasts.

But my highlight of the Petroscience trip was the astronomy section. The facts displayed were narrowed down to a few important ones regarding our sun and the solar system. It was pretty modest compared to my expectations for astronomy in Petroscience.Anyway,I was determined to use this opportunity to get as much info as possible about our solar system.I spent almost an hour watching the videos on a small screen provided in the place. Managed to learn a few important things about our heliosphere and coronary mass ejections.

Besides the interesting section on astronomy, there was also a part for people who are interested in aerospace. The was this room where they displayed machines that you would normally see in a rocket or a spaceship. There was even a simulated control system, where you could check out details of stars that were mapped in the skies.

For your information, the trip was a 2-in-1 trip because we also visited the Aquaria which was located in the Petronas Twin Towers.I was quite amazed to come face to face (well, almost) with marine life that were even bigger than me.It was like watching all those animal shows on television. For one moment,I was wondering if I was in reality or in dreamland because the scenery was just too beautiful.Ray fish flapping its fins gently, the white sharks swimming ferociously with their glaring sharp teeth and a huge turtle moving gently in the water- it was just too beautiful. It makes you feel that you have a deep connection with nature.

I was sad that the day ended so quickly as I wasn't satisfied with what I saw.I need more time to appreciate all the displays in Petroscience and take a look at nature in Aquaria. But,I know that happiness is short lived most of the time and we just have to accept that fact. So,the only way to maximize that happiness is to visit the place again, which is exactly what I'm going to do in the future........

It's About Giving And Taking

About a week or two ago,my favourite newspaper writer wrote an article about how short relationships and marriages last these days.According to her, marriages are like iPods, you can buy and change them as many times as you like. She said this as she compared the time period of marriages in her own family, her grandma's one lasted for 34 years, her mother's lasted for only half that time and her marriage lasted for a mere 15 years.

I always loved all the articles she writes. And she doesn't write crap,as proven by that article.I was disappointed to come to the realization that all she wrote was true and was happening nowadays. I was very disturbed by that fact as I always considered that most marriages last until the pair dies.As I let my thoughts fly again while relaxing in the park,I realized that humans are getting themselves in a messy situation because they always take and forget to give.

Let's start off with the environment.Since the beginning of humankind,we have been scraping the resources of the face of the earth for our daily uses and development. But,have we thought about giving something back to nature even once? The question of giving back took a long time to arise-we practically thought about nature only when the petroleum started running out.

I'm not pointing fingers because I myself have failed to give back something to mother nature. I was really mad at myself when I forgot about Earth Hour.My family was watching some dance show that time.I'm sure that more than 90% of the population would not have participated in that effort to save nature but that doesn't mean it's OK to ignore it.Maybe,if we had started replanting trees when we first started chopping them down,we wouldn't be facing the searing heat everyday.

Next,I turn to our families. We always demand so many things from our parents, especially money. Our parents buy us the gadgets for style and usage but we don't seem to give them back the love they need.I've seen some of my friends who practically speak rudely to their parents. Some of them even betray their parents-they get involved in negative activities without their parents' knowledge. When their parents find out, they argue with their parents.Situations like these bring about a lot of family problems. If only we had learned to repay part of our parents love for us......

When it comes to relationships, there's actually a lot to talk about. As I mentioned earlier,my favourite writer wrote about broken marriages.Well, when we live together as a unit, there are sure to be different people with different attitudes. Some are jovial, some are cranky and some are even very hot-tempered.But on most occasions,we only see the negative side of other people and don't really make an effort to realize the positives in others.

For example,I have a hot tempered and cranky sister.I used to hate those attitudes of her when I was young. Now that I'm matured enough,I've realized that there are a lot more good values in her other than her temper.I realized that she is quite responsible in studying and also cares a lot for my brother(she always loses her temper when she guides him in his homework). And I've also learned to ignore her temper. Now,we are much closer than we were when we were young.

So,let's say you're married or in a relationship with someone, try to look for the positives in that person. If that person seems like a cranky person, maybe you can try to be patient with her/him.If you're the cranky person,Perhaps it's time you think about your partner who has been longing for unconditional love from you.

If we learn to give and take with our surroundings and the people who live around us,we wouldn't be facing much problems in our lives.Try to give up the reluctant attitude in yourself and give others a chance to play their own part in this life.Maybe,it's time we throw away self-importance and practice thinking for others in our life.........
