Awesome Trip 3 And 4

Well, this post is a little out of date because of my busy exam schedule.Awesome trip 3 was a trip to the National Chemistry Department. It was held one week before my mid term exam. The main idea was to skip school and miss classes (it sound pretty dumb for me to do that as my exam was just a week later).

We boarded the bus at around 8.30 to the National Chemistry Department. It was a boring ride as I didn't have any of my close friends around, just like on so many other occasions. It's a little weird though that my closest friends don't share the same interest in science as me yet we make very good companions.

When I reached there,I found out that it was actually the Open Day at the department. So,they also invited other schools to their open day based on timed slots. Some of my friends thought that it was great to visit the department at the same time as Mutiara International School (according to them, they girls were amazingly hot!)

The first amazing thing I saw was a machine to identify unknown metals. You have to put a sample in the machine and it looks for a similar density metal in it's memory to identify the element.I learned something important that day as I finally found out how they actually identify substances in television shows.

The other interesting part was the crime solving section. They showed how those CSI guys actually did their jobs.It looks a lot easier on television. One of the machines that caught my eye was the one which was used for identifying drugs. The person in charge actually allowed me to use it to get a hands on feeling of how it is to work in the lab.It was a really awesome trip but that day I assured myself that I'm less likely to be a chemist-physics is much more interesting.

Two days later,I joined a school trip to Taylor's University. We went to two of their campuses, the one in Subang Jaya and The Lakeside campus. The one in Subang Jaya was basically for pre-university studies such as the Cambridge A Levels and South Australian Matriculation. There, were given a talk about the South Australian Matriculation program that was highly recommended by the lecturers there because of its Australian learning style. To be honest,it sounded quite interesting at first but when I thought about it again,I felt that there were other better options.

After that talk,we went to the Lakeside campus. The view of the campus was breathtaking. It's called Lakeside because it has a lake inside the campus. It is built in such a way that the campus is always filled with streams of fast flowing air (wind). The architecture was good enough to wow me as I've not stepped into many universities before.

There was just one activity organised for us at that campus which was amazing race.We were told to get into groups and given a few questions to figure out the answers. To be honest, the questions were not that interesting but my group managed to have a great time asking around and making fun of people.

During lunch in the campus canteen,as I savoured my sweet sour chicken rice,I started to think of my own college life in the future.Future isn't as far as it sounds because I have to start looking for pre-university options next year.I'm growing up so fast,my days in school are numbered, but what can I do???Thinking of the future,I don't really have much time to fret. So now, it's really the time to enjoy to the max while I'm in school!

Finally, The Break Is Here

It has been exams and more exams for the past one and a half month.I had my second monthly test about 2 weeks after my postponed first monthly test and had my mid term examination two weeks after that. There was really no break at all for me during the past 2 months.

See,2 weeks is just the right amount of time needed to revise the whole lot of chapters that are coming out for the exams. And,think about wasting any time and I would end up like some who were really unsatisfied with their results. So,there was very limited time for blogging.

Finally,I'm getting my long awaited break. But,the break has it's own costs tagging along behind it.What else could it be other than homework.I have a lot of work to complete.Recently,I joined intensive classes for a few subjects and one of the teachers had given me lots of work to be completed.

Leave homework aside,my training is starting again.I'm so relieved that I'll be able to sweat and work out with my training friends again after a 2 month break. However, due to the major exam this year,my father has limited the number of days that I can go for training. It's disappointing but I'm not planning to rest on all those extra days.I'm planning to go back to my usual 6 days a week schedule.

I always emphasise on balance in life.If I don't run,I cannot concentrate while studying and if I've been slacking in studies,I won't have the mood to run. So,I need to do both in order to achieve self satisfaction and happiness.I just love the feeling of reading my reference books after a great day of workout.

Other than that,my friends and I just formed a new futsal team.Since we were always playing together, one of my friends came up with the idea and we kinda liked it.So,we ordered our jerseys and played our first match. We went on to win our first match after some good teamwork. All of us are not professionals but we played well as a team.

Seems like a timely break for me but I have lots of unsettled work to complete.Hope you guys have a wonderful holiday before we start to really focus on the major exam at the end of the year......

Awesome Trip 2

One week after awesome trip 1 which coincided perfectly with the end of the second monthly test, I was bound on a trip to Bukit Cahaya. To be more precise,I was going to take up the Skytrex challenge with some of my schoolmates.

The Skytrex challenge is an obstacle course that one could complete at a cost that ranged from Rm30 (I think) until Rm50,depending on the level of difficulty. So,the athletics club in my school, in which I am in charge of, planned a trip to take up the Big Thrill challenge which was around Rm45.I could have guessed in the beginning that this trip was going to be somewhat different from other trips because none of my gang of friends were actually going for it.

So,we practically left school at around 7.45 and it took us around 40 minutes to reach. We disliked the old bus which took us there but that simple glitch in the plan for an adventurous experience wasn't going to stop me from achieving my target for joining the trip, which is to enjoy myself.Once we reached there, we were looking around and I was kinda lucky to find RM10 on the floor.

Well, that lucky discovery was just the beginning of a whole sequence of events which would turn out to be a very new and exciting experience for me.After completing a few formalities,it was finally our turn to board the bus to the adventure site which was located in the jungle. The bus ride was one of a kind as it had no windows and the cold and clean feel of the jungle filled our nostrils as the wind blew against our faces.

After leaving our belongings behind and putting on our gloves,we were given a chance to try out the type of challenges that we had to face in the training area.Putting on and changing the pulleys on the harness looked confusing at first but I soon got a hold of it once I was done with the training.

Next,we were off to complete the challenges in the obstacle course.Basically, they were three types of challenges, flying fox, climbing pipe ladders and walking on dangerous lines. The first one was the tall ladder.I had to wait agonisingly long for my turn as there were more than 30 people in front of me.When my friends offered me to go first,I rejected as I wanted them to fill their excitement first before me.In one way,I was learning to be patient.

When it was finally my turn,I wasn't going to hold back from having my share of the fun.The first obstacle was the hardest one. After that,it was exciting as there were many flying fox stations.I was laughing and smiling all the way as I always wanted to go for challenging courses like the Big Thrill.

The challenge was over a little too quick in my point of view.I was expecting something a little more extreme. In fact, there was a more extreme course but it would cost an extra RM5.If I was given the chance,I would have surely opted for the extreme fun.

I would prefer to use the word 'different' to describe this trip because for the first time,I was having a lot of fun in the absence of my group of friends.I have to thank my hardworking secretary and treasurer for ensuring that this trip was a success.Somehow,a voice inside me is telling me that I would go back to that place to try out the extreme one.And you know what.....I just love to follow my instincts...........
