Post-SPM Celebration

After receiving our SPM results, my friends and I were hanging around our previous school to check out our graffiti masterpieces (Opps...secret spilled. I'll write a blog post about that and much more once the time is right). Then, all of a sudden, one of my friends suggested that we have a sleepover at his house.

I had missed both the previous sleepovers as my mum had objected deeming such activities as dangerous. This time, I wasn't planning to miss out. I had to convince her somehow. After lunch at a restaurant beside Aeon shopping complex with my friends, I headed home with high hopes.

My mum gave me a kiss on the cheek and congratulated me again on my good results. Then, slowly, I tried asking her about the sleepover. When she said no (as expected), I turned to my dad and after a little discussion, he agreed.

I hurriedly packed my stuff and had dinner as I had promised my friends that I would be in Eong Wei's house (his dad was going to send us for the sleepover, or that's what I thought) by 8.00 p.m. When I was about to leave, a couple of my mum's friends arrived at my house.

They were actually planning to visit my mum but since it coincided with my result day, they heard about the results and bought a cake for me. So, I had to cut the cake and feed every member of my family in recognition to my achievement.

After that 10 minute delay, I drove to Eong Wei's house with my father so that he could drive the car back home. When I reached there, I found out that another friend who was going to the sleepover was the one who would be driving us. And as it sounds, driving with friends just had to be fun.

Upon reaching, we kept our bags in the my friends room and settled down for pizza. For the record, 5 of us were going to sleep in his room and the space was just perfect. After pizza, we settled down playing FIFA 2011 and wrestling on my friend's Play Station in his room.

Since there were so many of us, we formed teams and played against each other. FIFA 2011 was totally fun. It was a whole new experience for me playing with another person on the same team. I found it amazing to be able to combine effectively to with another person to create opportunities and score goals.

The original plan was to stay up late until the Manchester City vs Chelsea match. Then, plans changed and we decided to sleep for a while and get up and then watch the match. I had a hard time waking up and my friends made fun of me when I finally woke up at 4 in the morning. They told me that I kept on telling them to wake me up a 4.30. Honestly, I didn't remember saying that to them at all.

All of us except one woke up eventually. I was feeling super sleepy. I was waiting for the half time break to get back to sleep. After enduring my scorching eyes begging for some sleep for 45 minutes, I headed straight for bed at half time. At the end, only 2 managed to watch the whole match with one actually sleeping during some parts of the match.

We woke up pretty late next morning, well it was late for me. Feeling uncomfortable waking up late, I was the first one to head into the bathroom to take a shower. One by one, we got ourselves cleaned up and we headed downstairs for breakfast. We actually planned to head out to the Bukit Raja Jusco for lunch as it was pretty late. But then, since my friends mum had cooked fried mee hoon for us, we didn't want to waste it.

After lunch, we walked to the shopping complex to watch a movie. I can't remember which movie we were planning to watch. But once we reached there, the movie's timing was bad and we decided to watch Hunger Games instead. We bought the tickets and decided to have lunch.

Having lunch was the most awesome part of the entire sleepover experience. One of my friends came up with a crazy plan. He suggested that instead of having lunch and then watching movie, why not for the first time we have lunch while watching movie. And his lunch suggestion was even more outrageous.

He suggested that we buy a whole cooked chicken and share it among friends. It was a crazy and amazing idea and that's what we always love to try. So, we decided to buy 2 whole chickens (roasted), soft drinks, paper plates and cups from Jusco's supermarket. We were so damn excited as we were pratically heading towards having a picnic in the cinema.

We hid our "picnic stuff" inside the plastic bags that we got so that they won't be detected by the people working at the cinema. After safely making our way to our seats, we started unpacking. We spread out the plates and cups, poured drinks in the cups and opened our lunch. The wonderful smell of chicken started filling the air.

I'm sure the other people  must have given that weird look at us as we passed the chicken bag among ourselves. As I was really hungry, I savoured every piece of chicken I ate. At the end, I had to finish the remaining pieces as the others were full.

The movie was awesome to watch. More importantly, we had loads of fun making jokes throughout the movie. We were laughing and laughing throughout the movie and even during the sad scenes. Some constantly asked us to keep it down by chanting "sshhhh" and "shut the f*** up" but that didn't stop us at all.

After the movie, we headed back to my friend's house and packed our stuff. Soon after, Eong Wei's father picked us up and he sent me back home. It was my first ever sleepover in a friend's house and I'm happy I had a finger-licking good time.......

P.S. The blogger wishes to thank his friends for the T-shirt they bought for him that day as a gift  for the 10A+ he achieved in SPM 2011
